The team included two Austrians climbers Erwin Schneider, Ernst Senn, and two Swiss Bruno Spirig and Arthur Spöhel. They were accompanied by almost 200 local porters and 8 climbing Sherpas guide. After a brief look at the dangerous southern approaches of Lhotse Shar, they turned their attention the Northwest face of Lhotse.
Annapurna I (8091m/26,545ft.) is the 10th highest mountain in the world and eighth highest mountain in Nepal. Annapurna I is lowest 8000m peak but is one of the most technical climbing peaks in the Himalayas. The peak was climbed by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal on June 3,1950. It was not until 1970 that Annapurna Expedition was summited again from its Northwest Ridge. The peaks exact location can be found at the coordinates of 28°35’45''N83°49’20''E. The Annapurna massif contains six major peaks, Annapurna I (8091m/26,545ft) Annapurna II(7937m/26,040ft) Annapurna III(7555m/24,786ft) Annapurna IV (7525m/24,688ft) Gangapurna (7455m/24,457ft) Annapurna South (7219m/23,684ft).
Dhaulagiri I (8167m/26,795ft) is the seventh highest peak in the world and the fifth highest peak in Nepal. The name Dhaulagiri comes from the Sanskrit word where Dhawala means “Dazzling, White Beautiful” and Giri means “Mountain”. The normal climbing route for Dhaulagiri is the Northeast ridge. The exact coordinates are: 28°41’48''N, Latitude and 83°29'42''E Longitude. Dhaulagiri was first submitted by an Austrian, Swiss and Nepali expedition on May 13, 1960. The expedition was lead by Max Eiselin and included Nyima Dorje Sherpa, Nawang Dorje Sherpa. P. Diener, E, Kurt Dismember,Forrer, A. Schubert.
Kanchenjunga (8586m/28,169ft) is one of the coolest 8000m mountain expeditions in the Himalaya. The expedition has elements of remoteness and challenging technical climbing on a huge massif. Mt. Kanchenjunga is located on the very remote border between Nepal and Sikkim and attracts relatively few trekkers because of this it retains much of its pristine beauty, mystery and charm. For most mountains above 8500m we advise clients to climb them in the spring season.However,they can also be climbed in autumn, albeit in somewhat difficult snow conditions.
Mount Makalu (8485m/27,838ft) was first climbed by an American team led by William Siri in the spring of 1954. The expedition was composed of Sierra Club members including Allen Steck, William E. Long, and was called the California Himalayan Expedition to Makalu. They attempted the southeast ridge but were turned back at 7,100 m (23,300 ft) by a constant barrage of storms.

Mount Churen Himal 7371m (24,183ft) was first climbed on the 24th of October by the Academic Alpine Club of Shizuoka Expedition team in 1970 by Mr. Kr. Fukui and K. Hasegawa. Mr. Ryozo Yamamoto and his group had planned to climb since 1963 but the expedition unfortunately did not materialize until 1970. Members of the Academic Alpine Club of Shizuoka, Japan climbed the main peak (West Peak) of Churen Himal (7371m) and the Central Peak (about 7371m) on 28 and 24October, 1970 from the Southeast ridge which was lead by Takashi Serizawa. Mount Churen is among the seventh series mountain in the Dhaulgiri range. It has three pinnacles which are called: Churen West 7371m/24,183ft. Churen Central 7375m/24,196ft and Churen North 7371m/24,183ft
Gurja Himal (7193m/23,599ft) expedition is known locally as the lowest Dhaulagiri peak of the Dhaulagiri range. Many mountain lovers had plans to climb this unclimbed peak from 1956 till 1969 but many climbers spent so much time searching the condition of the mountain and possible climbing routes and the peak did not see a successful ascent. Many climbers had been disappointed when the Nepal government closed the peak for expeditions from 1968 till 1979.
Baruntse (7129m/23,389ft) peak is located in the heart of the Himalaya, the Khumbu. It is in very close vicinity to Mount Everest and Mount Makalu. It is located away from the standard trekking paths so climbers can experience a sense of being in a remote area without investing considerable amount of time and effort. The Baruntse expedition becomes increasingly popular with climbers wishing to escape from the peak climbing on the overcrowded Ama Dablam and Pumori. Baruntse expedition is a month long adventure and an extraordinarily aesthetic objective for peak climbing in Nepal. The summit of Baruntse is located at: 27°52'19'' N / 86°58'55'' E. Baruntse first became famous when a New Zealand expedition including Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow summited the peak on May 30, 1954 via the Southeast Ridge. This has now become the normal route for most Baruntse expeditions
Mt. Gangapurna (7455m/24,457ft) is situated in the Annapurna Himalayan range at the Coordinates of 28°36'18''N Latitude and 83°57'00''E Longitude. The Gangapurna expedition became popular when Gunther Hauser (German expedition team) summitted the peak in 1965via the East Ridge. Gangapurna peak is located between Annapurna III and Tilocho Peak. It is Northeast of Mt. Annapurna at the opposite end of Grand Barrier to Tilicho Peak on the shoulder extending about 10-12km from Annapurna directly east of ROC Noir. Mt. Gangapurna is one of the best mountains to climb in Nepal and is excellent preparation for future 8000m expeditions.
Pumori (7161m/27,494ft) is one the more challenging 7000m expedition in the Himalayas. Pumori lies on the Nepal and China Border in Mahalangur Parbat of the Himalayas. This attractive 7000m peak stands about 8.5 kilometers west of Everest and 4.5kilometers from Nuptse. Pumari means “Unmarried daughters” in the Sherpa language and was named by George Mallory. The peak was climbed by a German-Swiss expedition which included Gerhard Lenser, they reached the summit onMay 17th, 1962 via the Southeast face. Mr. Leopold Sulovsky and Zdenek Michalec from Czech climbed the South face via a new route in 1996. An outlier of Pumori is Kala Patthar (5643m/18,513ft), which appears as a big brown bump below the impressive south face of Pumori.
Tilicho peak (7134m/23,406ft) expedition is one of the more attractive 7000m expeditions in Annapurna region. Located about 210K west of Kathmandu, this attractive place will capture your attention and leave your speechless. The Peak was first climbed in 1978 when Mr. Emanuel Schmutz from a French expedition reachedthe top of the peak. Mr. Schmutz summited the peak from the North West shoulder which has now become the normal climbing route by the government of Nepal and the Department of Tourism. Tilicho Peak is the highest point of the Great Barrier which links Khangsar Kang (7458m) and Nilgiri North (7061m) together. Tilicho Peak is a mountain in the Nepalese Himalaya, near Annapurna.
