Mera Peak Climbing is one of the highest trekking peaks climbing in Nepal. The height of the 6,476m/ 21,247ft Mera peak was the first time climbed by Col. Jimmy Roberts and SenTenzing on May 20, 1953. Northwest Mera peak climbing is a standard climbing route however climbers are also climbing from the southeast face too. The Mera peak climbing is depending on the climber’s physical & mental fitness, acclimatization, pre-preparation, pre-climbing experience, Duration of climbing, climbing route, and weather, rather than difficult or comfortable in itself.
Different climbers have different thoughts about the Mera peak climbing difficulty. The same trekking peak is easier for one climber than the others. The same applies to Mera peak climbing too. If the climber has a time period of 19-20 days, Mera peak ascent can be done easily and simply. Most of the climbers have the ascent duration from Khare too Khara is two nights and three days. Due to the bad weather, we request the climbers that the extra day will be safe and successful climbing.
How hard Mera Peak to Climbing?
So How hard Mara Peak to Climbing? We are always able to say easy or difficult only in comparison situations. Mera peak climbing is the moderate climbing peak however easier then island peak or Lobuche East Peak expedition. In French grade for climbing routes Mera peak called Peudifficile“PD-” (of small difficulty; moderately difficult) in the short cut way, it called PD. So on average, it is a moderate climbing peak for climbers. After 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, you will start hiking from 2800m up to 5045 m of Mera Peak base camp which called Khare too.
The Caravan climbing route goes through Chhtrala, Thanknag, Kote, and Khare, after a day of Acclimatization is Thanknag. Acclimatization is really important at high altitude for the human body. So you have to go up slowly on the way to rest. As much altitude you will keep your body continue, your body will build capacity to observe yourself. How long does it take to climb Mera Peak?
After four to five hours of journeys (depending on the climber’s climbing experience, physical fitness, and acclimatization), climbers reach the base camp of Mera peak. After two hours hiking from Khare climber reach in the crampons point through scraping small and big stones. After ascending the slope of 55-60 degrees of old snow about 50m distance of ascending and crossing about 2 hours flat trail to Mera glassier you will reach 5400m altitude which places called Mera peak base camp.
