Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain, is standing tall, 8,516m. It is also called E1 or South Peak in Tibetan. It is the part of Everest massif. Lhotse is the thrilling climb following the Everest trail route up to the Lhotse face. The Lhotse expedition merits the Everest expedition‘s facilities, support, resources, and infrastructure. The Lhotse, Everest and Nuptse are called as the triple crown of Himalayas.
This Spring 2022, Satori organized Satori Lhotse Expedition Spring 2022, and our climbers completed the summit peacefully. Our Satori Lhotse Expedition Spring 2022 program starts departing from Kathmandu on 4th April 2022. A 15-member team and 15 climbing Sherpa participated with the same objective to hold foot on top of Lhotse Mountain. Climber members of age 30 to 58 from Georgia, India. Spain, South Africa, France, Australia, Switzerland, Georgia, Andorra, USA, Honduras and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The team is led by a Georgian named Dr Tsintsadze Avtandil.
During the Lhotse climb 2022, many obstacles and struggles came through, including bad weather and snowfall. Our climbers’ headways through the Khumbu Icefall route. Moving ahead, reaching Camp I, surrounded by the crevasses at the top of Khumbu Icefall. The next stage of going the Camp II is passing Lateral and Medial Moraines up the west ridge that welcomes the close-up view of Mt. Lhotse. This is the magnificent place for Camp II.
Leaving Camp II and aiming for Camp III, the climber reaches close to the walls of Mt. Lhotse, crossing ice cliffs and massive glaciers. Setup the Camp and wait to catch Camp IV. Located near the South Col, the Camp IV climbers travelled very steep rocks and reached the Lhotse summit. Waving the flags and taking the pictures, the climbers take a huge breath of relief and celebrate the achievement of the Lhotse Summit this spring 2022 from 13th – 15th May 2022.
